In 2002, Mr. John Muharemi, a lifetime marine enthusiast, began filming his extensive game fishing and diving trips so that he could share his experiences with family and friends. His hobby and passion for the sea turned into a project which was to become Big Fish Productions.
The company began producing and distributing DVD titles with topics covering shipwreck diving, artificial reefs, game fishing, dolphin encounters and educational themes. These were sold in tourist gift stores and dive centres around New Zealand.
By 2006, the Big Fish Productions' collection had grown to encompass 10 marine DVDs as well as travel & scenic DVD titles. Furthermore, the company developed the innovative DVD Postcard range as well as the unique DigiBook series which were successfully launched and tested in late 2007.
Returning to a focus on production in 2010 with a number of TV pilots, Big Fish Productions continued with the development of marine & travel formats and currently produces the finest quality marine, nature, travel and special interest programs for the broadcast market.
A pioneer in the entertainment and show-business industry as well as a lifetime marine enthusiast, Mr. Muharemi has represented New Zealand in game fishing competitions around the world and holds several record catches.
